How to make Instagram videos with AI
By Expidvid AI · Founder & Creator
Instagram rewards clips that look considered and loop cleanly. Generated video suits that well, provided you render for the feed rather than adapting a landscape clip into it.
Render 9:16 from the start
Reels fill a vertical frame. A model composes light and movement across the frame you asked for, so cropping a 16:9 render to vertical throws away the composition and softens what is left. Set 9:16 before you generate.
Respect the safe area
- Keep the subject centred, away from the top and bottom eighth
- Leave the lower third clear for captions and the account bar
- Avoid detail at the very edges — the UI covers it
Movement in the first second
Open on motion rather than a slow fade: a push in, a reveal, steam rising, a whip pan settling. Dead air at the start of a Reel reads as a skipped post.
Make it loop
Clips that end roughly where they began loop invisibly, and a looping Reel racks up watch time without any extra work. A gentle orbit, a rotation or a settle-and-return move all loop well; a long one-directional dolly does not.
Keep the grid consistent
Pick one style and one light direction for a whole series, then change only the subject. Your profile starts to look like a brand rather than a set of experiments, which is what makes people follow rather than just watch.
Animate the photos you already post
Your best-performing still is usually your best Reel. Upload it, let Expivid write the motion from the image, and the subject stays exactly as your audience already recognises it.
Batch a fortnight in one sitting
Draft several shot descriptions together, render the keepers, then caption and schedule them in your editor. Two hours of generating comfortably covers two weeks of Reels.
